The world's largest brothel was here in Seattle, at the base of Beacon Hill. 500 rooms built by the mayor in 1910, Hiriam Gill. Hiriam Gill served as mayor on two occasions. He ran on the platform of breaking up vice in Seattle's red light district, The Lavabeds, and moving houses of ill repute out of the district. The second time he ran, he promised to contain the houses back in the district as they had started to take root in other neighborhoods, like Ballard, Georgetown and residential neighborhoods. 2009 Start

It is official - we will begin offering this tour in 2009 to the over 21 years of age public. We have walked the route, perfected the locations and can't wait to start telling the stories. Watch this site for when the start date will be! By August we will be offering the tour every weekend night. It was a spectacular clear night when we finalized the route which will start at the Market and go South by SAM and then up the backside of Western Avenue. We are working on providing a toast and tasting on the route. Price will be $25/ person.

1st Avenue was known for a long time as "Flesh Avenue" for it's offerings of sex shops, porno theaters, tattoo parlors and pawn shops. That has changed dramatically as downtown Seattle has become more residential.
